I founded Shana Ross Fitness ten years ago with the intent to cater to older populations, baby boomers specifically and menopausal women in particular. Our business philosophy and format has proved to be effective in helping these populations gain strength, confidence and a new sense of self. We have clients with Parkinson's, Multiple Sclerosis, and traumatic brain injury. Our days here at Shana Ross Fitness are rewarding.

Because our business is great and still growing each year, we are in need of a new team member to train clients full time. I'm looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced coach to begin training clients immediately.

Personal Trainer, $22-$40/hr or more to start, excellent attitude, outstanding customer service skills,

So let me tell you about me, my company and the coaching position.

Shana Ross Fitness is a private training facility. We are not a membership gym. All client marketing is done for you. We do not expect our coaches to solicit clients, sell products or meet quotas of any kind. We only expect you to bring your stellar coaching skills into the studio each day and serve a clientele that is motivated to make changes with your expert guidance.

My studio is located at 629 W 22nd St, Unit 1 right here in Houston.

If you are hired for this coaching position, you'll begin coaching clients in the studio right away. You will get plenty of training on how we conduct our sessions and on how to fit into our system. But you will have plenty of autonomy in structuring workouts. We want you for your knowledge and expertise.

I'm a fair, respectful and appreciative owner. I like having fun and making money providing highly valuable fitness services.

You will be compensated fairly (1099 contract), treated fairly and I will certainly look for ways to pay you more for your efforts if they warrant it. I want someone who enjoys working with older populations and making a difference in their lives - because that's what we do at Shana Ross Fitness.

Tasks You'll Be Expected To Perform

  • Develop Comprehensive Health & Fitness Programs For Clients: You'll receive coaching and training on our fitness system and programs, but you'll have flexibility to incorporate your training style and knowledge.
  • Tracking Client Progress: In order to ensure a client's success in our programs, you'll need to track weekly progress, current successes and challenges, review client nutrition and exercise log worksheets and more on a weekly basis.  It will be your job to hold a client accountable to his/her health and fitness program to ensure the best results possible.
  • Perform Ongoing Evaluations:  Body composition testing, measurements and an initial nutrition coaching and physical movement assessment are all done for you. You will be presented with a client who has been fully vetted for activity. You will need to continue to make notes on progress and bring any issues before the staff so that we might find a solution as a team.
  • Coach clients through goal-specific programs: You'll be responsible for designing each workout session before a client's appointment, and keeping detailed weekly progress reports on the clients you're working with. If a client is having challenges throughout his/her program, you'll coach and motivate client and make appropriate changes to ensure consistent progress.
  • Demonstrate Proper Exercise Instruction: This is a big one. You must be able to provide proper coaching, instruction, and motivation during a client training session. You must have a working knowledge of the human body and be able to provide appropriate exercises for each client's goals. You must understand movement at the most basic level so that you can communicate that to someone who may have been sedentary for many years. You must understand how to adapt exercises for those clients with little to no athletic background.
  • Provide Ongoing Health and Fitness Education: Our clients rely on us to service all of their health and fitness needs. It is your job as a fitness coach to provide your clients with health and fitness education on various topics that will empower them to lead healthy lives forever. You'll be provided with educational tools and resources, will be expected to study them and speak about them with your clients. We are always learning at Shana Ross Fitness.

Required Skills

 These are the skills you must already have in order to qualify for this position:

  • Good Communication Skills - you will be talking with my clients, who are VERY important to me. You must be comfortable conversing in-person and on the phone and know how to conduct yourself professionally, and deliver clear instructions to the clients. I'll teach you everything you need to do during a training session, but I can't teach you manners and professionalism.
  • People skills and personality - you must LOVE working with people! As mentioned above you will be working with people who may be unfamiliar with exercise. You must be patient and love teaching.  This is an exciting studio and you must be able to show your clients energy and excitement while working with them.
  • Health and Fitness Education - You must have a current certification and you must be experienced. If you like working with relatively fit people, or young people exclusively -- this is not the job for you. If you are just starting out in the field, I doubt you have the skills I need. However, if you think you can demonstrate to me that you have what it takes to rise to the challenge, then I invite you to apply.
